The 9 m/s Club — Online S&C Coaching

Become a faster, Leaner and more explosive GAA player in the next 8 weeks

S&C coaching to train towards inter-county speed standards, while getting fitter, stronger and more robust against injuries, without training 7 days a week

Your club training covers 5 hours a week. That leaves 163 hours where you either gain an edge — or you don't.

Sound familiar?

You're training away.
But you're not sure you're actually improving.

1 You're putting in the work but can't honestly say you're any faster, leaner, fitter or stronger than last year.
2 When the training or games ramp up, your body is tired and sore, so extra gym and pitch work goes out the window.
3 Niggles keep creeping in. Hamstrings, groins, calves, hips. You're managing yourself instead of pushing on.
4 You go to the gym but most sessions are made up on the spot. You usually just do the same exercises and don't change them as the season goes on.
5 Between work, college or family you're under pressure for time and unsure what's actually worth doing in the time you have.
The problem is your training isn't designed for you

Why one-size-fits-all programmes
don't work for GAA players.

Irish Examiner: It can't be one size fits all

Generic gym programmes

Built for no one in particular. Same sessions each week regardless of age, position, fatigue levels, club schedule or time of year.

Instagram workouts

Random sessions you see online. Fancy exercises done once or twice without any progression will have zero impact.

Training more, not smarter

Adding sessions on top of team training without structure is how overload injuries happen.

Plans with no support

Plans with no coach follow-up or adjustments mean consistency falls off when life gets busy.

What actually works

Structure. Testing.
Adjustment. In that order.

Built around your actual week

Your schedule, team load, injury history.

When your week changes, niggles happen or season progresses, the plan adjusts.

Testing that shows you what's improving

Baseline testing in speed, strength, power, body composition and mobility.

We test at the start and re-test every 6–8 weeks. You'll know exactly what's changed, and what to focus on next.

Speed as the primary target

Most club players have never trained speed properly.

We'll go after the qualities that drive speed: sprint work, explosive strength, body composition, running mechanics, mobility, conditioning.

What you can expect

Results in 8 weeks:
doing 2–4 sessions per week.

1

Lighter and bouncier on your feet

Better body composition and improved movement quality...noticeable on the pitch, not just in the mirror.

2

You'll be measurably quicker and have more explosive power

Sprint improvements (speed off the mark, change of direction and top speed) and power (vertical and horizontal) tested against your own baseline. Not a feeling or a guess. Actual data. Numbers don't lie.

3

You'll stop feeling heavy-legged in the last 20 minutes

You'll have cleaner running technique and the conditioning to bomb up and down the pitch late in games, without your body giving up on you.

4

No more second-guessing what to do or when

Gym, speed, primers and mobility properly mapped around your team sessions. You'll know exactly what to do and when. Your body will feel fresh and sharp from the recovery work.

5

You'll go into games feeling ready - not playing catch-up

Leaner, stronger, fewer niggles. You can actually push yourself in training instead of minding yourself through the season. Most importantly you'll start enjoying games more because you have the work done to thrive at that level.

The testing proves it

Real speed improvements.
Measured. Not estimated.

Every player re-tests every 6–8 weeks. Here's what the numbers look like.

Nicola — Senior Club Footballer (Female)
8.1% improvement in top speed in 8 weeks
20m Acceleration
3.70s 3.50s
5.4% improvement — excellent progress
Change of Direction
2.33s 2.23s
4.3% improvement — already a strength, now even better
Flying 20m
2.97s 2.73s
8.1% improvement — most impressive speed result of the block

Speed was being limited by body composition, mobility restrictions, and sprint mechanics. All three improved.

What felt different on the pitch?

"Week on week I notice my agility and sharpness off the mark has improved."

What are you most proud of?

"Continuing to feel light on my feet and sharp. Having confidence to take my player on now too."

Killian — Senior Club Footballer (Male)
Speed, agility and top speed all significantly improved inside 6 weeks
20m Acceleration
4.47s 4.18s
0.29s improvement (~6–7%)
Change of Direction
3.70s 3.23s
0.47s improvement — possibly the most important result of the block
Flying 20m
3.80s 3.67s
Good improvement — top speed continuing to move forward

Speed was identified as the biggest weakness in Testing 1. It is no longer a weakness.

I'm a certified S&C coach and owner of Humans of Gaelic. As well as online coaching, I work as S&C coach with the Tullamore senior footballers, who completed the Offaly three-in-a-row in 2025.

In this role I worked alongside former Mayo manager Stephen Rochford and coached Cillian Bourke, who signed a professional AFL contract with Essendon last year, plus a host of current inter-county players.

I also host the Humans of Gaelic podcast where I interview players and coaches on the human side of elite performance in the GAA.

I worked as a GAA correspondent with The42 for seven years and wrote my first book in 2022.

Common questions

Answered honestly.

Will this fit around my team training?
Yes — that's the whole point. Your programme is built around your team training week, not on top of it. When your schedule changes, the plan adjusts. You're not expected to add sessions to an already full week.
I've tried programmes before and they didn't work.
Most programmes are static — you get a plan and follow it regardless of the stage of your season. This one changes with you. It's built for your position, goals, and injury history. Testing at the start means we know exactly what needs work. Re-testing every 6–8 weeks means you can see what's actually changed.
How much time does this take each week?
That depends on your week. The programme is built around how much time you actually have. Most players do 2–4 sessions per week outside of club training. If things get tight, the programme adjusts.
I'm a club player — is this only for county level?
Most of the 200+ players on the programme are club-level. The principles are the same regardless of level. If anything, club players typically have more room to improve because proper S&C training is far less common at that level.
What if I have an injury or I'm coming back from one?
Injury history is part of the intake process from day one. If something flares up during the programme, the plan adjusts around it. I have loads of great rehab and prehab sessions I can give you for the most common injuries and niggles.
Is this just a plan I could get online?
No. A plan you find online doesn't know your schedule, your injury history, your position, or your current fitness levels. It doesn't re-test every 6–8 weeks or adjust when your week changes. The value is the structure, the ongoing adjustments, and the accountability.
What's the difference between weekly and monthly?
The programme is identical. Monthly billing works out slightly cheaper — roughly €17 per week less. Both start with a 7-day free trial and both can be cancelled any time.
What happens after the free trial?
Your card isn't charged until after the 7-day trial ends. During the trial you'll complete your testing and receive your programme. If at any point in that first week you decide it's not for you — cancel with one message. No charge, no awkward calls.

This Season,
Know It's Working.

Stop drifting. Get a plan built around you, test what's actually improving, and step onto the pitch prepared.
